In the Italian men's volleyball league Serie A, Ishikawa Yuki's Milan team played the third match of the playoff third place match against Piacenza away on Saturday, May 6th local time, and lost 0-3 (19-25, 26-28, 21-25).
After the match, Milan's Agustin Rosell (MB, Argentina) gave us a comment.
Rosell: It's complicated to end the season like this, because we did amazing things in the playoffs. It hurt a lot to lose the way we did to Civitanova in the fourth and fifth games of the semifinals, especially in the fourth game, when we thought we could win 3-0. It was really difficult mentally. I think everyone was in that situation, because we had never played like this against Piacenza. It's really hard to lose all three games 0-3. So I can't be happy right now, but I'll definitely be happy tomorrow. We had an amazing season and we'll be happy to be here.
-What was this season like overall?
Rosell: It was amazing. Of course there were some difficulties, but there are always difficulties. You can't have everything go well for eight months. There were times during the season when we weren't united, but in the end, I think we were able to come together through the game. That's why we were able to beat Perugia and get one step closer to the final. Unfortunately, we didn't get a ticket to the Champions League next season, but I'm happy that we can take part in the CEV Cup.
-At the beginning of this season, it seemed like your combination with setter Pollo wasn't quite working well, but it's really gotten better as the games have gone on.
Rosell: That's normal. It was my first time playing with him, so it's inevitable that the first combination was off. I have my own timing, and that may have been difficult for him. I've played with the same setter for many years (Sanchez (Argentina), we played together from the under-category national team and were on the same club team for the last two seasons), so I had the same feeling with him. Now my connection with Paolo (Porro) is very good, and I'm sure it will be even better next season.
-Does that mean we'll see him perform as well as he did when he was playing with Sanchez next season? (laughs)
Rosell: That may be the case (laughs).
