On the second day of the Tokyo Olympics men's volleyball, Japan won a close match against Canada 3-1 thanks to the efforts of Nishida and Ishikawa! They took another big step towards qualifying. Poland also beat Italy, and Brazil came back from two sets down to win a fierce battle against Argentina.
Results of the third day of the tournament (July 28th)
Pool A
- Canada vs Iran 3 : 0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22)
- Poland vs Venezuela 3 : 1 (25-16, 26-13, ,18-25, 25-15)
- Japan vs Italy 1 : 3 (20-25, 17-25, 25-23, 21-25)
Canada, who had lost two games in a row and had no way out of it, faced Iran, who was on a two-game winning streak. Canada, who scored mainly from OH's Perrin and Hoag, pulled away from Iran, who made many mistakes and lacked energy, to win in straight sets. Japan had also lost to Italy, so there were no teams with perfect records, and Pool A was a close contest. Poland, who played mainly with reserve players, lost one set to Venezuela but won 3-1. Poland's captain Kubiak, who had been in poor condition, made his first full appearance of the tournament and showed his recovery. Venezuela also took their first set of the tournament.

Dececco (Argentina) showed skillful setting
Pool B
- USA vs Tunisia 3 : 1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-14, 25-23)
- Argentina vs France 3 : 2 (23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13)
- Brazil vs Russia 3 : 0 (22-25, 20-25, 20-25)
Tunisia almost took the match to a full set against the USA thanks to the efforts of their young opposite Bentala, but the USA held on at the last moment to win 3-1. This was the first time Tunisia had won a set in this tournament. Argentina and France fought a fierce full set. Argentina played a full set for the second day in a row, but setter De Cecco evenly distributed the ball to the five spikers, and unlike the previous day's loss, they kept their concentration until the end and defeated France. France, who lost, suffered their second loss, and their remaining opponents were the top two countries, Russia and Brazil, so they were on the brink of collapse. The skills of coach Tille, who has survived many battles, will be put to the test. In the match between the undefeated Brazil and Russia, Russia, who continued to threaten their opponents with their blocks, defeated the previous champion in straight sets to become the only team to win three consecutive matches. They secured their place in the qualifying rounds in the first round.
