The third match of the Polish Przyga Playoffs third place deciding match between Warsaw and Jastrziebuski Wenger was held on Wednesday, May 7th local time, and Warsaw won a fierce battle 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12) to secure third place in the league.
After the third-place ceremony, we spoke with Kevin Tille, an outside hitter for the French national team who plays in Warsaw.
T: Congratulations on your third place. How do you feel now?
Tille: Thank you. It feels great. It's always great to finish the season with a win and a medal. And for some of our players (MB Vrona and MB Kovalczyk) it was the last game of their career so it's great to finish with a bronze medal. We'll be in the Champions League again next season and that was one of our goals. We hope to do better next season. But it's really great to finish the season like this with this squad.
T: How do you feel looking back on this season as a whole?
Tille: It was a really long season. There were a lot of matches, a lot of ups and downs. There were a lot of frustrating moments. But it feels good to finish with a win after such a close match. Mentally it was really tough and I was worried about how we would react in the bronze medal race. But in the end I think we performed really well. Everyone on the team was really great.
T: The club season is over and now the international season is about to begin.
Tille: I'm still injured (right chest injury sustained in the first leg of the third-place playoff) so I don't know what will happen. I want to rest a bit and enjoy some time with my family. I'll spend some time in Warsaw, then come back to France and see how it goes.
T: Your father (Roland Tilley) is also starting his new season as coach of the Japanese national team.
Tille: Yes, my father is the national team coach, so he has a lot of responsibility and he still has to continue. But I have two children, so I want to enjoy time with them now. My father is away from his "kids", so he can do his job properly (laughs).
