Summary of the results of the Paris Olympic women's volleyball semi-finals on Thursday, August 8th: USA and Italy advance to the finals!

Semi-finals

America - Brazil

3-2(25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-11)

After holding off a tenacious Brazil in a full set, the USA advanced to the finals for the second consecutive tournament. The USA shut down the attacks of Brazil's ace OH Gabi with serve and block, and scored points mainly through OH Plummer and OP Druz. OH Gabi improved his form in the fourth set and Brazil managed to take it, but in the fifth set, OH Skinner and others scored points from the USA's block, and the USA won. The USA is aiming for a gold medal following the Tokyo Olympics and a consecutive tournament victory.

Italy - Türkiye

3-0(25-22, 25-19, 25-22)

In a match between two of the world's best opposites, OP Egonu and OP Vargas, Italy held Turkey at bay and won in straight sets. OP Egonu was highly decisive and stable throughout the match, while Italy's serve and block worked well, making it difficult for OP Vargas and other Turkish attacks to get through. Turkey was leading until the middle of the third set, but MB Farr scored three block points in the final to decide the match. Italy has secured its first Olympic medal, and will face the previous champion in the final. Turkey will face Brazil in the third-place playoff for their first medal.
