Toshiki: How do you feel looking back on today's game?
Onodera: In the first, second, and third sets, we were able to take the lead in the early and middle stages, but then we gradually started to struggle with the opponent's serves and blocks. But we were able to stay focused as a team, and I think it was great that we were able to come back from a late deficit, especially in the third set.
Toshiki: Regarding blocking, what were your goals as a team?
Onodera: That's right. Most of the players were really tall, so I had to rely on my defense, letting them get past when I needed to, and making sure to get a hold of the ball when I needed to. I was able to make compromises in my own way to stop the blocks, and the defense, led by libero Yamamoto, really picked up the ball, so I think it was very easy to block.
Toshiki: How was your individual performance?
Onodera: I think the spikes were also in good places, and I was able to hit the ball in different places, so there were some scenes where the ball was picked up, but I think the spikes were good. I also served strongly to the players on the opposing side, so I think that was good.
Toshiki: There was also a back attack.
Onodera: That was a lucky spot (laughs).
Toshiki: The final is finally tomorrow. Your opponent will be France, who you played in a full set in the qualifying round. What do you think will be the key to the match?
Onodera: I think that each individual on this team has really high skill levels, and the ball doesn't drop easily, so I think they will be a really tough opponent to play against, but I think we will need to fight tenaciously as well, and I hope that all of Japan can fight tenaciously and repeat the way we won in the qualifiers.
