April 28, 2024

In the fourth match of the Italian Men's Volleyball League playoff third place match, Milan, where Ishikawa Yuki plays, played against Trentino on Saturday, April 27th (local time) and won 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 25-21). Ishikawa contributed to the victory with 28 points, the most on both teams, and was selected as MVP. As a result, Milan finished third in the league and qualified for next season's European Champions League (for the first time in the club's history).

Post-match interview with Ishikawa

Toshiki: Congratulations on getting third place. Can you honestly tell us how you feel right now?

Ishikawa: We managed to secure a ticket to the Champions League and achieved better results than last year, so although I'm not completely satisfied, I do think we did everything we needed to do.

Toshiki: When you say you're not satisfied at all, what is it that you're not satisfied with?

Ishikawa: I was aiming for the finals, so I wasn't able to achieve that. I think that was the biggest thing.

Toshiki: It seemed like Ishikawa was getting more tosses than usual in today's match. Did you say anything to the setter, Pollo, about that?

Ishikawa: I don't like to shout at the setter, so I think I did express it a little. This season, I didn't get the ball when I wanted it, so I was a little happy when he finally started to toss it more and more at the end when it was important.

Toshiki: I think that each and every year during these five seasons at Milano has been a year of new history. How do you feel looking back on these five seasons at Milano?

Ishikawa: I think we had a really good team, and I was blessed with great teammates, including the president and other staff members, and I'm very happy that we were able to create Milan's history together. Today, we won the game, and Milan will be participating in the Champions League for the first time, so I'm very happy to have been able to contribute to that.

Toshiki: The club season is over and the national team season is about to begin. Please say a few words about this year's national team season, which is also an Olympic year.

Ishikawa: First of all, I'll take some time to rest, and then I'm looking forward to reuniting with the national team players and playing again. I'd like to practice again, improving my precision, in order to win a medal at the Paris Olympics.
