In the fourth match of the quarterfinals of the Italian Men's Volleyball League playoffs, Milan, where Ishikawa Yuki plays, played against Piacenza on Sunday, March 24th (local time) and won 3-2 (28-30, 25-27, 25-23, 27-25, 15-6). Ishikawa Yuki started and scored 20 points.
After the match, we spoke with Milan's Paolo Porro (setter, Italy).
Paolo Porro post-match interview
Toshiki: How do you feel looking back on today's game?
Porro: It was a difficult and long match, but we never gave up. We could have lost one set (after the third set) and been eliminated from the playoffs, but we have a great team with a lot of passion. We want to play the same way in the next match, and I know we can do it when we step on the court.
The key to the victory was our serving and reception, but we also made a lot of blocks and our defense was good. Against a great team like Piacenza you have to play everything well and everything counts.
Toshiki: I think today's match saw you come back after losing two sets, but what was different before and after that?
Porro: I don't know what it was after the third set, but something changed. We lost the first two sets because of a couple of choices or two weird mistakes. But the next set we played really well and we won. I'm very happy.
Toshiki: What did you think of your own performance today?
Porro: We managed to bounce back today. We used Yuki Ishikawa's pipe attacks a lot. It was important to use them a lot today. I think we played very well as a team.
