[Video available] Mottapaes: "(Miyura) Kent is incredible," "(Kai) Masato will become an extremely good player" Interview after the match against Montpellier in the French men's volleyball league

February 12, 2024

In the 20th round of the French Men's Volleyball League, Paris, where Miyaura Kento plays, played against Montpellier on Saturday, February 10th local time, and won 3-3 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20).

After the match, we spoke with Paris Volleyball's setter, Kilian Mottapaes.

Interview with Kilian Mottapaes

T: How do you feel looking back on the match?

Mottapaes: It was a tough game. We had to win because many other teams (close on points with Paris) were winning, like Toulouse (who beat first-placed Chaumont 3-0 yesterday). I'm really happy to have a great win today in front of so many fans.

T: In the second set, Miyaura had some tough moments where he was repeatedly blocked. How did you try to resolve that?

Mottapaes: In the second set, we tried to fight as a team. (Miyaura) Kent was in a tough situation, but we gave the ball to Lucas (Conde) and Jojo (Panu) to give him time to feel better and get back on track. And Kent did well in the important moments after that. That's why we were able to win.

T: What about Miyaura?

Mottapaes: Kent is a great guy and a great player. I would love to play with him longer, but it will probably just be this season. He's unbelievable. He's got super swing spikes and a super swing serve. It's a lot of fun playing with him. He's really great.

T: What do you think of Kai's selection?

Kai: There were still many things I wasn't used to, but (now) I've been able to fit in well with the team, so I'd like to continue working harder and harder here.

T: You are still surrounded by many fans, what do you think about your fans in Paris?

Mottapaes: Masato (Kai) is also very good. He is very tall and has a very strong jump and spike. He needs to improve his reception a little bit compared to Jojo, but I think he will be a very good player. It has been a very special experience for us to play with the two of them.
