Coach Wijnalski comments after CEV Cup playoff match between Milan and Xavierce: "(Ishikawa) was not performing at his usual level"

January 21, 2024

Milan, where Ishikawa Yuki plays, played against Zawiercze (Poland) in the second leg of the Confederation of European Volleyball (CEV) Cup playoffs on Thursday, January 18th (local time) and lost 0-3 (22-25, 22-25, 23-25). Ishikawa Yuki started the game and scored the most points on the team with 7 points.

After the match, Zabierce manager Wijnalski gave us his comments.

Comment from Coach Wijnalski

T: How was the match?

Wijnalski: It was a difficult match from the beginning, but I decided where to put pressure with my serves, and as a result, I was able to connect many counter attacks and advance in the first set. I'm glad that I was able to advance in the second set in the same way. In a match like this where the game is so unpredictable, the difference in mistakes doesn't matter. I checked and we made more mistakes. Still, I'm very happy to have won today's match, and I'm very happy that the substitutes played well too.

T: What was your impression of Ishikawa in Milan?

Wijnalski: I think he is definitely still recovering from an injury, he didn't play before us and he wasn't performing at his usual level against us, but he will still be an important player for Milan.
