The results of the first day of the quarterfinals (September 24th) of the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championships are as follows.
Quarterfinals
Italy - Belgium
3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-18)
In the first quarterfinal match, a rematch between Pool F teams, Italy played a perfect game and got revenge for their loss in the qualifying rounds.
In the first set, Italy broke the opponents' serve with aces and blocks early on, and their solid defense prevented Belgium from scoring, taking the lead 25-13. In the second set, Italy's serve and block strategy worked well, with MB Russo scoring two blocks and one ace, and they kept Belgium at bay with a variety of attacks, winning 25-18.
In the early stages of the third set, Belgium took the lead with attacks from OP Regels, but Italy gradually pulled away from the middle with attacks from OH Micheletto and service aces, and finally, with a service ace from MB Russo, Italy won 3-0, 25-18. Italy are now two wins away from winning back-to-back World Championships.
Poland - Türkiye
3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19)
This was a match between two undefeated teams, but Turkey was without OH Manduraci, who had been a key player on the team up until this point, due to injury.
In the first set, Poland took the lead from the beginning with five blocks, including three from MB Kochanowski, and Turkey's attack mistakes, taking a comfortable lead of 25-15. In the second set, Poland extended their lead with consecutive breaks from MB Huber's serve early on, and continued to score with attacks from OH Leon. Turkey also caught up to within one point in the final stages with attacks from the Lagmuzia brothers, but in the end, the younger OH Lagmuzia's attack went out, giving Poland the set 25-22.
The third set was a close affair at the beginning, but Poland gradually widened the gap with their serve and block and OP Krek's highly successful attacks. In the end, MB Kochanowski scored consecutive service aces to give Poland a 25-19 lead and a 3-0 victory. Poland has now advanced to the semifinals for the fourth consecutive tournament.
