The results of the second day (September 21st) of the final tournament of the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championships are as follows.
1st round (Round of 16)
Italy - Argentina
3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22)
The match will be between Argentina, who advanced to the top of Pool C after close matches against Finland and France, and Italy, the Nations League silver medalist who advanced to the top after losing to Belgium.
In the first set, Italy won a close match, scoring mainly through attacks and blocks by OH Micheletto, and in the second set, Italy played a solid defense and did not allow Argentina to score easily, taking consecutive wins. In the third set, Argentina held on thanks to blocks by MB Rosell, but in the final stages, Italy pulled away with three consecutive service aces by OP Romano to win 3-0.
Belgium – Finland
3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-21)
The second match was between two emerging European powers who had both defeated Italy and France, two teams that were favourites to win the tournament, in the qualifying rounds.
Belgium took the first set thanks to a brilliant performance from OH De Loo, who scored 10 points in attack and block. In the second set, OH De Loo and OP Regels scored one after another with great decisiveness, and Belgium took consecutive sets without any trouble. Belgium also got off to a good start in the third set, but Finland tied the score with a service ace from S Tervaporti, and then added more points with spikes from OP Jokela. However, OP Regels was unstoppable for Belgium, and he closed the set with another attack to give Belgium a 3-0 victory and secure their first place in the quarterfinals of the World Championships in 55 years.
