Meet our team
World ranking: 11th (before the start of the World Volleyball Championships)
This year's Canadian national team has seen a major change in its main roster due to players retiring or not participating (taking a break) since the Paris Olympics.
In the Nations League, where the team competed with a mainly young team, they struggled to win despite putting up good fights against strong opponents, and finished the tournament in 14th place out of 18 teams.
At the World Volleyball Championships, veteran outside hitter Hogue returned to the national team as captain, and Vernon, who played for Sakai in Japan, also returned to the national team for the first time in a long while. Also noteworthy is the powerful serve of middle blocker McCarthy, who has won the Polish league.
