The semi-finals of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship (World Volleyball) were held on Saturday, September 6th, where Japan lost to Turkey 1-3 (25-16, 17-25, 18-25, 25-27). Japan will advance to the third-place match.
After the match, Volleyball World interviewed Ferhat Akbaş, head coach of the Japanese women's national volleyball team.
When asked, "What did you tell your players after the game?", Coach Akbaş replied,
"I told them that they still had a chance to win a medal tomorrow and that it was time to move on. It's not easy, we've lost our way to the final, but a bronze medal would be very valuable, so I told them to forget about this match and focus on tomorrow."
He commented.
When asked about the opponent in the third place match (unknown at the time of the interview),
"We don't know what will happen. Italy and Brazil are great teams, ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the world. We'll just have to wait and see."
He commented:
The third place match will be against Brazil on Sunday, September 7th at 5:30 PM.
