Introducing foreign volleyball player No. 10 Luke Perry

July 23, 2020

Perry is the guardian angel of Australia, who uses his high athletic ability to defend the court. His dig reactions are particularly impressive, and his physical ability can be seen from the fact that he can reach a maximum height of 331cm despite being 180cm tall. He has been playing international matches as the libero for the Australian national team for about eight years now, but he is still young at 24 years old. In terms of the Japanese national team, he is exactly the same age as Ishikawa Yuki. He has a very baby-faced face for a Westerner, so he may look younger than Ishikawa lol.

Perry started playing volleyball seriously relatively late, in 2009 when he was 14 years old. However, he quickly distinguished himself, and three years later in 2012 he was awarded a national sports scholarship, and the following year he made the senior national team. He was only 17 at the time. Volleyball is a minor sport in Australia, so there may have been a factor in the lack of competition, but his subsequent success fully supports the high level of his ability.

Perry began his full-fledged club career with Finnish club Lakkappa in the 2014/15 season, and was quickly recognized for his ability, moving to Germany's prestigious Friedrichshafen in the following 2015/16 season. The following year, he moved to Berlin, Germany, where he contributed greatly to the team's two consecutive Bundesliga titles. His performance in Germany helped him gain recognition in the European market.

After that, in 2018/19, he made a long-awaited transfer to Resowija Rzeszów, a prestigious club in the Polish Przliga, where he played for two seasons. However, it was a tough two years for Perry, as the team was in a slump since the start of the Przliga and he was not able to get as many playing opportunities as he wanted due to the foreign player limit.

He has yet to decide which team he will play for this season, but we hope to see him continue to play at a high level.

With the Australian national team, apart from the silver medal at the 2019 Asian Championships, they have yet to achieve any success. They seem to have a lot of highly physically gifted players, but it seems like they are not yet a winning team. Furthermore, in recent years, the growing strength of their Asian rivals Iran and Japan is likely to be a problem for them. Will Perry be able to play in the Olympics for the first time since the 2012 London Olympics? She is still only 24 and a libero, so maybe she will have about three more chances in the next 12 years lol
