Toshiki's Tweets
It was a disappointing come-from-behind defeat, and our first loss.
Paris started with reserve setter Ossar instead of regular setter Paez (the reason is unclear, possibly due to Paez's poor condition).
Although there were concerns at first about the player even younger than the young Paes, Toulouse managed to win the first set, but from the second set onwards the match progressed at Toulouse's pace.
Paris' attacking powerhouses OP Miyaura and OH Panu were not performing well, and they were unable to make their presence felt in attack or serve.
Miyaura in particular lost many attacks (mistakes and blocks), and his attack effectiveness rate (number of successful hits minus lost points divided by number of hits) was less than 10%. There were many scenes where it was difficult to hit with a different setter than usual, but even so, this number is too strict and bad. He had some good serves, but they didn't lead to a break.
It's a shame as other players such as MB Merce and OH Kovacevic performed well.
On the other hand, Toulouse's OP Winkelmuller and OH Helvois' attacks were stable. In particular, Helvois, who was the MVP, showed great competitive spirit.
Having just defeated last season's champions, Tours, Paris wanted to continue their winning streak, but to be defeated so quickly by Toulouse, who finished 11th last season... This was a good opportunity to see the level of competition in the French league.
For now, I want them to focus on today and prepare for the next match. I'm concerned about S. Paes' condition, but I hope to see him on the court in the next match.
Miyaura has yet to show explosive performance. I'm also concerned about the number of blocks he receives. However, this is an area that Japan's national team player Ai Takahashi overcame in Italy last season, so I'm sure he'll be able to do it too.
