The final of the 2022 Men's Volleyball World Championship was held in Katowice, Poland on the 11th, with Italy defeating Poland 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-20) to win their fourth title in six tournaments since 1998.
Meanwhile, Poland, the host country, was aiming for their third consecutive victory since the 2014 tournament, but they were unable to show off that moment of achievement in front of their fans.
After the match, Poland captain Bartosz Kurek gave us his comments.
-I imagine you're feeling complicated right now.
Yes, of course our emotions are mixed. But maybe it's a luxury problem for Poland, because we had attention and expectations from people that other countries didn't have. We know we are a great team. We had a good chance to be the best team in the world today, but we lost to Italy. I want to say a big congratulations to them.
-What do you think were the biggest differences between Poland and Italy?
That's a very difficult question. I think they were better in many aspects of the game. We tried to contain them, but they contained us better. And they were better in many aspects. Kudos to them. Great team, great success. But we'll get over this loss. Thank you.
