The 2022 Men's Volleyball World Championships held its third-place playoff in Katowice, Poland on the 11th, with Brazil defeating Slovenia 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18) to win the bronze medal. This is Brazil's seventh consecutive World Championship medal.
After the match, Brazil captain Bruno gave us a comment.
-Congratulations on your bronze medal.
I'm very happy that we won the last game. It's a bronze medal, but this team really deserves it. This year has been very difficult, we had a lot of injuries, but we didn't give up, so now it feels great.
-This season, you started on the bench except for the first game.
I know my role. The most important thing is the team, not Bruno. When the team needs me, I try to do whatever I can. The most important thing is for the Brazilian team to win. Not for Bruno, not for Real, not for Wallace, but for the team to win. So I'm happy.
How is your role different from before?
I have to be more calm off the court because when I enter the court I need to understand the situation and help the team. Also, it was my role to support Fernando (who played mainly as the first setter in this tournament). He is younger than me and I genuinely want to help him, so I supported him in various ways to help him succeed.
-What do you think of Fernando in this tournament?
He was fantastic, he was playing well and showed he could be one of the best setters in the world.
- Please give a message to your Japanese fans.
Hello to all my Japanese fans! I'm Bruno! I was able to win the bronze medal! Thank you! Goodbye!
