Speaking of the Argentina national team's midfielders, the hot line between Sole and Krell has continued for nearly 10 years, but in recent years a young star has emerged, this time in the form of 22-year-old Rosell.
Rosel is small. Especially in the world of middle blockers, where even 2 meters is considered short, the only other player I can think of who is only in the early 190cm is Li from Japan. (In addition to Rosel, setter Sanchez of the same generation is also only 173cm. Argentina is a good match against Japan.) However, his play is very impressive and does not make you feel his short height. His spikes are powerful and wide, and he has high decision making ability, and his blocks react well and move quickly. Another attractive feature is that he can score with his serves. He must be a very unpleasant player to have as an opponent. Furthermore, because he is small, the pressure and stress on opponents must be even more. I would like Japanese middle players to take him as an example.
Rosell has played in the Argentine League since 2015, winning the cup while with Ciudad Valley and the league while with Bolivar Valley. He was also selected as the league's best middle blocker in the 2017/18 season. From this season, he will play for Tourcoing in France, managed by former Panasonic Panthers coach Mauricio. He will join Sanchez and Palonsky, who have played with him on the Argentine national team since the under-age years.
Rosell's generation has had some success in the under-age categories, winning the U19 South American Championship, coming in second at the U19 World Championship, winning the U21 South American Championship, and winning the U23 World Championship. They are also better than their South American rival Brazil in the same generation. However, they have not been able to win a single senior national team since being called up in 2018, and have yet to win a medal at a world championship. It is unclear whether their debut will be at next year's Tokyo Olympics, but we will continue to keep an eye on Argentina's young stars.
