Kuforek is a promising young outside player who represents Poland's "golden generation." The reason his generation is called the golden generation is because they were undefeated in official matches in the youth and junior under-categories. In other words, the Polish national team of this generation swept the European Youth, World Youth, European Junior, and World Junior titles. Bartosz Kuforek was a starter on that team, winning individual awards such as MVP and best outside striker.
He is not tall at 193cm, and is more technical than powerful, so there are many similarities with Kubiak, the current captain of the Polish national team. Personally, I think he will be the next Kubiak (although I hope Silivka does well). However, while Kubiak is an absolute leader with a hot heart, Kuforek gives the impression of being cold and mischievous. However, that is his weapon, and he always calmly judges the situation, and can make accurate choices from a wide range of options, from powerful spikes to feints that catch the opponent off guard, and he makes very few mistakes and gets blocked. His serve is also first-class, and he has been ranked in the top three in the server rankings of the Polish league for two consecutive years. It is fair to say that he already has more to offer than Kubiak when it comes to serving. In any case, I never get bored of watching him play. At the age of 22, he is already the core of his current team in Warsaw, and it is clear from watching the games that he is very trusted by the setters at crucial moments.
He was called up to the senior national team for the first time in 2018. At just 20 years old, he was already on the bench for the Poland national team, which had a deep player pool, and contributed to the team's victory in the World Championship that year. In the 2019 Nations League, which was mainly contested by young players, he played as a starter and contributed to the team's bronze medal win. He was also named to the team for the World Cup that same year, and won the silver medal.
Of the 12 players on the Tokyo Olympic team next year, there are usually four spots for outside hitters. Kubiak and Leon are already confirmed, and the other two spots will be up for grabs with Bednos, Silivka, Šapuk, and Fornal. There's no doubt it'll be a tough competition, but I'm looking forward to seeing you in action in Tokyo.
