[Updated for 2022] How to get to Chioene Arena, Padua

November 10, 2022

As of 2022, Pallavolo Padova is a team well known for being the home of Japan national team player Ai Takahashi.

This is a men's volleyball team based in Padua and plays in the world's top Italian Serie A.

In this article, based on the author's actual experience of visiting the area in October 2022,

  • How to get to Padua from the nearest airports and major Italian cities
  • Access from Padua Train Station and Bus Terminal to the match venue (Kioene Arena)

I would like to talk about...

Location of Padua

First, let's take a quick look at where Padua is located.

Padua is one of the municipalities (comunes) in the Veneto region, located in the northeastern part of the Italian Republic.

If Italy's territory were a pair of boots, it would be up to the back of the knee (laughs).

Also, just 30 minutes by train from Padua is Venice, famous as the city of water.

How to get to Padua

Here,

  1. How to get to Padova from Venice Airport
  2. How to get to Padua from Rome and Milan

We will explain about this.

Bus and train delays are common in Italy, so be sure to plan your trip with plenty of time.

Access from Venice Airport

The nearest airport to Padua is Venice Airport.

There is also Treviso Airport near Padua, but this airport is mostly used by low-cost airlines, and I don't think it is used much if you are traveling from Japan, so I won't mention Treviso Airport here (although I have used it myself).

We recommend the direct bus from Busitalia!

Bus stop view

There are several ways to get from Venice Airport to Padua, but the best way is by farAnother option is to take a direct bus operated by Busitalia (Bus Italia).

The charge is8.5 euros one waySo how long does it take to get to Padua bus terminal?1 hr 5 minis.

Tickets can be purchased at the public transport ticket counters inside the airport exit gates.

Number of flights1 or 2 per hourThe bowel movement is out.

Timetable until June 10, 2023 (from left to right: weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays)

The timetable isHereYou can also check it on the page.

The Busitalia bus stop is on the far left as you exit the airport.

There are other ways to get to Padua: ⑴ take a bus to Mestre Station and then take a train to Padua Station; or ⑵FlixBusThere is also a direct bus from another company. The travel time is about an hour, the same as Busitalia, regardless of which method you use.

However, the route via Mestre Station (1) has nearly twice as many trains as the Busitalia route, but in addition to the need to transfer, the fare is higher at 13.7 euros in total.

⑵FlixBus can be used from 4.99 euros and has the advantage of having Wi-Fi and power outlets, but it only runs three times a day and the bus stop can be difficult to find.

Therefore, I personally recommend using Busitalia.

Access from Rome and Milan

Rome and Milan are the two major centres of Italy.

In addition, Rome is currently the only city in Italy with direct flights from Japan, and Milan is the city where Yuki Ishikawa's team is based, so I think many people will travel to Padua from these two cities.

We recommend buying your high-speed train tickets early to save money!

If you are traveling to Padua from these cities by land, you will probably take a train or a bus, but if you are staying for a short time and want to save on travel time,We recommend taking the high-speed train..

Italy has a former national railwayTrenitaliaand private railwaysItaloThese two railway companies operate high-speed trains between Rome and Padua, and between Milan and Padua.

Trenitalia has many flights and is convenient, while Italo is a little cheaper. There is no significant difference.

I personally prefer Italo (lol).

①Rome (Termini Station) → Padua

Duration: Approximately 3.5 hours
Price: 19.90-84.00 euros (minimum class price)

②Milan (Central Station) → Padua

Duration: Approximately 2 hours
Price: 9.90-45.00 euros (minimum class price)

Prices vary widely because of early purchase discounts.

Therefore, high-speed railPurchase your tickets as soon as possible after deciding on your travel plans. We recommend that you do so.

*Lampunano Bus Terminal is a 10-minute subway ride or 25-minute walk from Allianz Cloud, the home of Power Volleyball Milano, so it's quite convenient if you combine it with watching volleyball!

Take a city bus from Padua Station or Bus Terminal to Kioene Arena.

Bus tickets can be bought at the ticket office in front of the station or at the tabacchi (kiosks).

A single ticket costs 1.3 euros and allows unlimited transfers on any journey up to 75 minutes.

There also appear to be tickets available in packs of 10 and one-day tickets (prices will be updated as soon as they are confirmed).

Single ticket

Once you buy your ticket, you board the bus.

The bus to Kioene Arena is number 10, which departs from bus stop D. Bus number 10 also departs from other bus stops, but please note that it goes in the opposite direction.

You can check the timetable on Google Maps. During the day, there are 3-4 buses per hour, but after 9pm there is only one bus per hour, so please be careful if you plan to use the bus again after the game.

Don't forget to stamp your ticket when you get on the bus.

The nearest bus stop to Kioene Arena (San Marco fr. Palasport) takes approximately 10 minutes.
