Three weeks after the Italian league, the playoff season has begun in Poland's men's Przliga, another league considered the world's top volleyball league.
Like the Italian League, the top eight teams in the regular season will compete in the tournament. All matches will be played on a home and away basis, with the first team to win two matches in the quarterfinals and semifinals, and the first team to win three matches in the final and third-place match.
This season's playoff matchups are as follows:
Jastrzcienbski (1st place) - Czestochowa (8th place)
Lublin (4th place) – Kędzierzyn Kozile (5th place)
Warsaw (2nd place) – Belchatów (7th place)
Zawiercie (3rd place) - Rzeszów (6th place)
The first match on the first day, Friday the 28th, was between Jastrziebuski and Czestochowa.
Jastrzciembski, who finished first in the regular season, owes their versatile and highly effective attacking skills to powerful attackers such as Poland's OH Fornal, MB Huber, and OP Kaczmarek, all of whom are skillfully controlled by France's S. Toniutti.
Częstochowa, on the other hand, is a team that has risen in the rankings rapidly in its second season since promotion thanks to significant reinforcements, and the team is particularly supported by the scoring ability of its two star players, OP Indra of the Czech Republic and OH Ebadipour of Iran.
However, OH Ebadipoour was not on the court that day.
The first and second sets were closely fought in the beginning, but from the middle of the set Jastrzcienbski made a comeback with blocks and defenses, and with spikes from OH Fornal and others he scored consecutive points, pulling away from Czestochowa, winning 25-17 and 25-19 in succession.
In the third set, OP Indra from Czestochowa fought hard, scoring 10 points in this set alone, with an attack efficiency rate of 751 TP3T, and bringing the game to deuce. However, in the end, MB Huber blocked MB Adamczyk's quick shot to close the game at 26-24, and Jastrziebuski won 3-0.
While Jastrzcienbski had all five attackers score with a high efficiency rate (team attack efficiency rate of 501 TP 3T!), Częstochowa struggled as players other than OP Indra were unable to score in the face of the team's blocks and defense.
In the league, both teams were almost evenly matched with one win and one loss, so the return of OH Ebadipoor will be important for Czestochowa. It seems that he is not injured but is in poor health, but I hope to see him in good health at the next Czestochowa home game.
