Perugia beat Modena 3-0, with Yuki Ishikawa starting for the first time in six games and scoring 13 points, the second highest on the team.

On Thursday, December 26th local time, in the third round of the second half of the Italian Superlegaga, Perugia, the team Ishikawa Yuki plays for, will face Modena.

In the first set, Perugia scored points with attacks from OH Ishikawa and OH Plotnicki. Modena's OP Buketger also scored attacks with a high success rate, but other attackers had difficulty scoring, and Perugia won the set 25-22.

In the second set, Modena took the lead with three service aces from OH Daviskiba and an attack from OP Bukegel, taking the lead from the middle of the set and holding the set point at 23-24. However, Perugia managed to turn the game around with a service ace from S Gianelli to 25-24, and finally OP Plotnicki scored a toss from OH Ishikawa to take the set at 27-25.

In the third set, Modena led 10-13 with attacks and blocks from MB Sanguinetti. However, Perugia turned the game around with a 15-14 score thanks to a spike from OH Plotnicki and a block from MB Rosell. Perugia maintained the lead going into the final stages, and with consecutive breaks from OH Ishikawa's serve, Perugia had a match point at 24-20. In the end, a Modena serve error made it 25-21 and Perugia won 3-0.

This was Ishikawa Yuki's first start in the Italian league in six games since the match against Grotazzolina in November (he started in the two UEFA Champions League games in between).

In this match, he was captivated by his attack and serve, scoring a lot of points from high jumps. In particular, his flow of service aces after hitting a difficult high ball in the middle of the second set was thrilling. On the other hand, he still seemed to be struggling with his serve reception.

Perugia's OH Plotnicki scored 14 points and OP Ventara scored 10 points, and the three side attackers scored well in this match. The team's attack effectiveness rate was also very high at 541 TP3T (it would be amazing if the attack effectiveness rate exceeded 401 TP3T), and the setter Gianelli, who was the driving force behind this, was awarded the MVP. By the way, Gianelli made 4 attacks and scored all of them, giving him a 100% success rate (lol).

Setter Giannelli makes an attacking move

Although Modena lost in straight sets, I think they fought well. OP Bukegel's attacks were particularly impressive (14 points, 581 TP, 3T success rate). They lost momentum a little in the third set, but continued to put pressure on Perugia by scoring service aces. MB Sanguinetti also had an attack success rate of 1001 TP, 3T, and also scored on serves and blocks. However, the attack success rate of the two outside hitters did not improve, which could be said to have been the reason for their defeat.

MB Sanguinetti's Attack

Perugia will face Modena again in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals on Monday the 30th. They have not lost a set so far, including the first half of the league, but they cannot let their guard down. It will be interesting to see whether they will play with the same members as this time, or whether they will replace their players (at least I think Modena will replace them).
