On Sunday, December 22nd local time, in the second round of the Italian Superlegaga, Perugia, the team Ishikawa Yuki plays for, will face Padova.
In the first set, Perugia scored points mainly through quick plays and blocks from MB Rosell and MB Sole, and maintained a 16-14 lead from the beginning to the middle of the set. In the fourth set, OH Porro was a big star, scoring five attacks and five service aces, and Padua led 14-16 until the middle of the set. However, Perugia took the lead with two consecutive breaks from OH Plotnicki's serve, taking the lead 20-18. Then relief server OP Herrera also scored an ace, widening the gap to 22-19. Perugia continued to hold on and took the set with a 25-21 victory, 3-1.
OH Ishikawa Yuki's participation was limited to relief server at the end of the first set.
Padua was the team that played a full set in the first half, but they also gave Perugia a hard time in the second half. In particular, outside hitter Porro's second son (Luca, and his eldest son Paolo, the Milan setter) played a lion-hearted performance with 22 points, 6 service aces, and an attack efficiency rate of 461 TP3T. However, the stability of the other side attackers was lacking.
On the other hand, Perugia's three side attackers, OP Ventara with 19 points, OH Semeniuk with 18 points, and OH Plotnicki with 14 points, scored well in the match, and all of them also scored points with serves and blocks, showing the high level of team strength. With this, even if one of the three players loses their form, they will not lose because OH Ishikawa is waiting on the bench.
Perugia also has MB Russo back on the court. MB Sore is also doing well, but MB Russo is still a better midfielder at the moment, so his return will be a big help to the team as they have some important games coming up.
The MVP was OH Plotnicki. Looking at the score and attack effectiveness rate, I think OP Ventara would have been fine, but perhaps the impression of the serve was stronger. Either way, it was a great performance.
