In the final round of the 2024 Men's Volleyball Nations League, the Japanese national team faced Slovenia in the semi-finals on Saturday, June 29th (local time) and won 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 31-29).
This marks Japan's first appearance in the finals of the tournament, and the first time in 52 years since the 1972 Munich Olympics that they have advanced to the finals of a major international tournament.

He scored 21 points, the most of both teams, by smashing sharp spikes into the Slovenian court time and time again.
