In the third match of the quarter-finals of the French Men's Volleyball League playoffs, Paris, represented by Miyaura Kento and Kai Yuto, faced Chaumont on Saturday, April 6th (local time) and lost 0-3 (20-25, 23-25, 18-25).
With this, Paris Saint-Germain was eliminated from the playoff quarterfinals with a record of 0 wins and 3 losses, and finished the season in 8th place.
Comments from Kento Miyaura after the match
Toshiki: Thank you for your hard work. First of all, how do you feel looking back on today's match?
Miyaura: Overall, we were pushed back by their serves, and we wanted to attack with our serves, but that didn't work out and we ended up being attacked one-sidedly, that's my impression today. Personally, I made mistakes at important times, so I'd like to reflect on that and use it for the future, and I'd like to watch the video again and improve as an individual.
Toshiki: How do you feel looking back on the playoff quarterfinals as a whole?
Miyaura: That's right. There were many times when we couldn't make up the two-point lead because of really small mistakes, so I felt that this is really how tough the playoffs are, and I was able to experience the unique atmosphere of the playoffs, where both teams were fighting desperately, so I really enjoyed the atmosphere and I think it was a really good experience.
Toshiki: What do you think was the difference between Chaumont and Paris?
Miyaura: Yes... It's difficult, but it was the way they made that one shot at the crucial moment, and the small mistakes we made, like touching the net. Small things... I wonder, for example, returning a free ball to the setter properly, or providing a good quality ball to the setter when they hit a short serve, but I think it was the fact that we couldn't pay attention to the small details that led to the loss of one or two points. Also, we were heavily attacked in terms of our serves, and I think that was the difference.
Toshiki: Coincidentally, we finished 8th in the regular season but lost to the number one team in the quarterfinals, just like last season. How did this season compare to last season?
Miyaura: Last season, I wasn't in the starting lineup, so I wasn't able to experience the real atmosphere live, but this season, I actually played there, and it felt like a playoff atmosphere, like we were really on edge with each other, and I was a bit nervous at the beginning myself. But I think it was good that I was able to experience that kind of atmosphere.
Toshiki: The club season is over and the national team season will start soon. Please say a few words for the national team season.
Miyaura: This past year with Paris Volleyball has been a really big one for me, a year in which I've grown, so I want to focus on bringing out what I've learned as a member of the national team. I also need to push myself harder in preparation for the Olympics, so I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season and want to work even harder.
