[Video available] Coach Piazza: "The players gave it their all on the court" - Post-match interview of the 5th match of the Italian Volleyball League quarterfinals

March 29, 2024

In the fifth match of the quarterfinals of the Italian Men's Volleyball League playoffs, Yuki Ishikawa's Milan team faced Piacenza on Wednesday, March 27th (local time) and won 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-22).

Interview with Director Roberto Piazza

Toshiki: Congratulations on your victory. How do you feel looking back on today's match?

Piazza: We played as a team. We played as a team and we played well. But Piacenza played well too. It was a very small difference. I think the players gave everything they had on the court today - heart, mind, everything.

TOSHIKI: Both of your previous wins were tiebreaks, but today you won in straight sets. What was the difference?

Piazza: That's how volleyball is. You can win or lose a tiebreaker, you can win or lose 3-0 or 3-1. We lost the second game at home 1-3. But that's normal. And I'm very happy to win 3-0 today. If the players can climb the ladder in front of them, they can stack it up to 2-0, 3-0. I think that happened today.

Toshiki: Your next opponent in the semi-finals will be Perugia. How do you plan to fight them?

Piazza: I can't tell you that right now because we don't know yet. Now we need to recover our energy and our spirits and see what we can do for Perugia because they have been away from games for two weeks. I think they are very relaxed and they have the advantage of playing at home. We need to play the best volleyball we can and we don't know yet if that will be enough to win.
