Milan comes from behind to lose to Verona, Yuki Ishikawa remains out

In the 9th round of the Italian Men's Volleyball League, Milan, which Ishikawa Yuki plays for, played against Verona on Sunday, December 10th (local time) and lost 2-3 (25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25, 11-15). Ishikawa Yuki was unable to participate due to a back injury.

Match Report

In the first set, Milano showed a variety of attacks from S. Porro from the beginning, while Verona continued to score points mainly from OP Amin, and the match continued with the score tied at 10-10. From there, Milano scored consecutive points with service aces from OP Regels, widening the lead to 14-11. Milano continued to score with spikes from OH Melgarejo and blocks from MB Piano, maintaining the lead at 21-17. In the final stages, Verona tied the score at 23-23 with a block and attack from OP Amin, but in the end, Milano won the set 25-23 with a spike from OH Kaziyski.

In the second set, Verona started off with a service ace from OH Mozic, a spike from MB Dzinger, and other service aces, scoring one after another to take a big lead of 2-9 from the beginning. After that, Milan narrowed the gap to 8-10 with a service ace from OH Melgarejo, a spike from OH Kaziyski, and a block from MB Vitelli (Italy), who came in as a substitute. However, Verona widened the gap to 10-15 with a service ace from OP Amin, and then further extended the gap to 12-19, a seven-point difference, with a pipe attack from OH Mozic and a block from OH Sani (USA), who came in as a substitute. From there, Milan closed the gap to 2 points at 19-21 with consecutive service aces from OH Melgarejo and a block from MB Rosell, but in the end, Verona won the set with a spike from OP Amin, 21-25.

In the third set, Milano scored points from MB Rosell's blocks and spikes, while Verona scored points from OP Amin's spikes, and the score difference remained the same, with the match progressing at 10-10. After that, the match continued with a battle for side-outs, with Milano scoring points from OH Melgarejo and Verona scoring points from OH Sani and others, making the score 20-20. At this point, Verona extended their lead to 20-22 with a spike and block from OH Mozic, but immediately afterwards, Milan reversed the lead to 23-22 with a pipe attack from OH Melgarejo. In the end, MB Rosell blocked OH Mozic, and Milan took the set 25-23.

In the fourth set, Verona made consecutive attack mistakes from the beginning, and Milano scored from OP Regels' attacks and blocks to take a 9-7 lead. However, Verona turned the game around with OH Mojic's spike and Milano's attack mistakes to take the lead 12-13. Verona further extended their lead to 14-18 with three consecutive spikes from OP Keita (Mari), who came in as a substitute, and in the final stages, OP Keita's block scored a break to make it 18-23. MB Dzinger scored a spike at the end, and Verona took the set 21-25.

In the fifth set, Verona took the lead 3-5 after a successful break with a block and a service ace from OH Mojic. After that, Milan tied the score at 8-8 with a spike from OP Regels, but Verona quickly took the lead at 8-11 with spikes from OP Keita and OH Mojic. Finally, Verona won the set with a spike and a block from OH Sani, 11-15.

As a result, Milan lost to Verona 2-3.
