At the 2023 Asian Championships (venue: Urmia, Iran), the Japanese men's volleyball team faced Uzbekistan in their second group match and won 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-13).
After the match, opposite player Kento Miyaura gave us some comments.
-How do you feel looking back on today's game?
Miyaura: It was our first time playing against them, so it was a difficult match with little data, but we focused on showcasing our high quality play.
-What do you think about your combination with the new setter, Yamamoto?
Miyaura: There are still many areas where we don't quite match up, so we'd like to communicate about that and move on to the next step.
- Now that Nishida has returned from injury, I think there will be competition for positions again. What are your thoughts on that?
Miyaura: It's really important that we perform well when we're in a match, so I think that today's mistakes in our combinations and our relationships will affect our evaluation, so I think I need to be more strict in that regard.
-What about the environment in Iran?
Miyaura: It's a completely different environment from Japan, the fans are really enthusiastic and it's easy to play. On the other hand, I don't know what it would be like playing against Iran away from home, but I imagine it would be an amazing atmosphere.
-Please tell us your enthusiasm for the final tournament that starts in two days.
Miyaura: There are two days until the final tournament, so we will use that time to prepare thoroughly and do our best to give our best in the next match.
