The Coppa Italia final, a cup competition in the Italian men's volleyball league Serie A, was held in Rome on Sunday, February 26th local time, with Piacenza defeating Trento 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) to win the championship.
After the match, Trento captain Matej Kaziski (Bulgaria, former JTEKT player) gave us some comments.
-How was today's game?
Kaziski: We faced a very tough opponent today. They played very well, especially their serve. They put a lot of pressure on us from the serve and we couldn't make the match. Yesterday's match was very hard and very long, so maybe we didn't have enough energy for today's match. But nobody cared about that, we just had to do our best at that time. And our best wasn't good enough.
-But I think your performance was particularly outstanding (Kaziyski had the most points of both teams with 21 points, and an attack success rate of 681 TP3T).
KAZYSKI: Thank you. But unfortunately, one player's performance is often not enough. When playing against another team, we as a team need to be better than them in order to win.
-The last time we spoke, you had just switched to opposite. How does it feel now that you've been playing as an opposite since then?
Kaziski: It's still a little difficult, but I think I'll get more used to it and my performance will improve. I'm happy with what I'm doing and I hope the team is happy with it too. Second place is a great result. We wanted to win, but second place is also a great position.
-Please say a few words about the rest of the season.
Kaziski: This season's league is very strange because the rankings are changing so much. This is the first time in my long career that the rankings have changed so much. Of course, excluding the first place. I think this is very good for the league. The league is still long and tough, so we will do our best to endure it.
