The semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, the Italian men's volleyball league Serie A, took place, with Piacenza defeating Perugia, who had been undefeated in all competitions this season, 3-0 (30-28, 25-20, 25-22) to advance to the finals.
After the match, Piacenza captain and setter Antoine Brizard (France) gave us some comments.
-How was the game?
Brizard: It was a great match. We played very well, especially our serves. When you can serve at such a high level it makes the matches easier. It was a great win.
--Your four aces were the first of 11 for your team in this match. Why do you think your serves were so powerful?
Brizard: Each of our team members has a great serve. We knew that, but we just hadn't been able to put them together until now. This time, we all got it together. Before the season, we knew that if we could all focus, we could serve like crazy. But today, Romano's serve wasn't that good, so we have another server. But we knew that if something really happened, this would happen.
- Your team is now the first team to beat Perugia this season. What do you think about this?
Brizard: They've had a great season. I think this is tough for them because they've won every single time, especially because they lost a chance to win the title. It's going to be tough for them. But it's theirs, and we're going to focus on us (laughs).
What will you do for the finals?
Brizard: Well, first of all I'm going to rest as much as I can. Luckily our game was early so I'll have time to recover and then I'll see which team wins and then I'll get ready again.
